This facility will serve the Quechua people, who are the rightful descendants of the ancient Incas. The location of the mission hospital is the Andean town of Curahuasi at an altitude of 8500 ft above sea-level. Approximately 750,000 people, predominantly indigenous, live within a 3 hour radius of Curahuasi. The Diospi Suyana Hospital wants to offer comprehensive care to these descendants of the ancient Incas. The facility will be equipped with 55 beds, 4 operating rooms, intensive care, laboratory and x-ray unit. The construction started on 24 of May 2005. The opening of the hospital is scheduled to take place in the beginning of 2007.
To start operations, Diospi Suyana needs equipment from manufacturers of medical equipment. Schölly wants to support this project and donats a complete endoscopy tower worth 40,000.-- Euros.
On September, 13th Regula and Werner Schölly handed over the equipment to Dr. Klaus-Dieter John, who founded Diospi Suyana together with his wife.
Further information about the project can be found on the internet under www.diospi-suyana.de.
